How was this platform created?

This platform was born in 2020 under the umbrella of RetinaPlus+ Foundation, a non profit institution aimed at improving visual health by promoting training and research in the field of ophthalmology.

The development of the project was conducted by Edryx Healthcare, which develops innovative solutions for health administrations and other institutions, hospitals and professionals by combining scientific knowledge and the latest IT technologies available in the market.

The project was made possible thanks to the support of Bayer.

What can you find in this platform?

Our online training platform gets candidates ready to succeed in both MCQ and Viva Voce tests of official European ophthalmology exams.

We use Artificial Intelligence-based functionalities and the latest technology available in the market to test your abilities through practical activities that aim to simulate official exams, and our chatbot and virtual trainer (Eybot) will guide you from start to finish, giving you fully-personalized tips based on your performance.

How does this platform test the MCQ part of the exams?

Most important European ophthalmology exams have a written part. This platform simulates the structure of the official EBOD Exam, one of the most important European ophthalmology exams.
It is formed by 52 questions, each divided into 5 independent true/false statements.

After responding to each question in the exam simulation, our virtual trainer will evaluate your answers and give you any necessary explanation and related-readings proposed by the experts of the Scientific Committee.

When you feel ready, you’ll be able to test yourself with our EBOD Exam simulator!

What does the Immersive Viva Voce Simulation consist of?

Our platform allows you to practice for the oral parts of official European ophthalmology exams through an Immersive Viva Voce simulator.

This simulation is divided into the following steps:

1. Presentation of the case by our virtual trainer (following official exams structure)
2. Providing your responses in an oral or written way
3. Transcription of the oral responses by the virtual trainer and the possibility to edit your responses
4. An analysis of the response and a grade based on the keywords used to resolve the cases
5. A model answer to the case given by an expert in ophthalmology and relevant bibliography to obtain more information about the particular topic

What other materials and knowledge can I get from this platform?

Eybot, our Virtual Trainer, will not only guide you through the whole training process, but will also give you any reading suggestions or tips it considers necessary for your learning process based on your performance on both the written and oral parts of the test simulation.

In other words, Eybot is able to give you personalized assistance at any time of the simulation (both with text and voice commands), and will provide you advice so that you can reach your maximum potential and succeed in official exams.

Does my pass on this simulation guarantee my EBO Diploma?

This platform was created using materials authored by a Committee of independent renowned experts in ophthalmology (you can learn more about them here); and is therefore not an official source of the European Board of Ophthalmology.

Despite the fact that our simulation aims to simulate official European ophthalmology exams, a positive result in this test does not guarantee an approval in official examinations, unfortunately.

What this platform does guarantee is that candidates gain the necessary abilities and knowledge, and are therefore optimally prepared to increase their chances to pass.
